# Migration go/no-go worksheet

Worked example companion. Fictional scenario; no measured results.

A migration is ready when every difference has an explanation the data owner accepts.

## How to use this sheet

Replace the example rules with your own. Keep each acceptance decision linked to its owner and evidence. Use the blank CSV to record your actual process; the example CSV contains teaching material.

## Workflow

1. **Snapshot source** (Source data owner): Freeze scope, identifiers and control totals.
2. **Map and stage** (Migration engineer): Transform fields and resolve parents and owners.
3. **Load and reconcile** (Data + operations): Account for loaded, rejected and deferred records.
4. **Approve cutover** (Business sponsor): Reconcile the final delta and test business tasks.

Exception: Unknown parents, owners or values enter a rejection ledger. A failed reconciliation blocks cutover until repaired or explicitly excluded.

## Measurement

Use a frozen export and a dated target snapshot. Report the migration scope, merge rules, rejected records and reconciliation differences. Import duration alone is not evidence of migration quality.

## Limitations

- The mapping must be adapted to the source and target CRM editions and object models.
- Rollback after target writes requires an explicit change-reconciliation procedure.
