# Signal acceptance checklist

Worked example companion. Fictional scenario; no measured results.

An alert earns its place when the recipient can see the account, the evidence and the next action.

## How to use this sheet

Replace the example rules with your own. Keep each acceptance decision linked to its owner and evidence. Use the blank CSV to record your actual process; the example CSV contains teaching material.

| Fixture | Expected decision | Evidence to retain |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Known prospect, qualifying action | Create one sales task | Account ID, qualifying event IDs, rule version |
| Existing open signal task | Update context without a second task | Existing task ID |
| Paying customer | Use customer-success policy | Billing status timestamp and account owner |
| Unknown product account | Hold for identity review | Candidate mappings and source event |
| Old event replayed today | Evaluate using event time | Occurred-at and received-at |

## Workflow

1. **Receive event** (Product platform): Preserve identity and occurrence time.
2. **Resolve account** (RevOps): Use the maintained account crosswalk.
3. **Evaluate signal** (Product + sales): Apply versioned eligibility and exclusion rules.
4. **Assign follow-up** (Account owner): Create one task with evidence and disposition.

Exception: Unknown accounts pause for mapping review. Retry task creation with the same business key; notify separately after the task exists.

## Measurement

Compare eligible signals with accepted tasks for a defined weekly cohort. Use task_created_at and owner_accepted_at for handoff latency. Keep qualification changes visible; do not attribute sales-cycle changes to routing alone.

## Limitations

- The qualification rule and observation window are example assumptions.
- Event availability, identity quality and sales capacity determine feasibility.
- A simple CRM task rule may be sufficient when the account mapping and event source are already reliable.
